Lesson 55 – Optimizing Distance:  Angle of Attack

Trackman found several years ago that hitting up 5 degrees on our driver gave us more distance.  How much depends on your clubhead speed, but it can be significant:  as much as 25-30 yards.

I asked Trackman founder Fredrik Tuxen the effect of hitting more up, say +9 on a driver.  He said it simply hadn't been tested, because it would be outside standard coaching practices.

I believe hitting up more than +5 gives an additional increase in yardage.
