Lesson 5: Common Stance Errors

Getting the grip and stance down to the finest detail is well worth your time – it IS the shortcut to a good swing motion.

Some of the stance errors I see in person are poor posture (flexed spine or head sagging forward), closed stance on irons, too wide of feet, and too much reach between the thighs and the butt of the club.

At some point all of these things will keep your game from improving and progressing

Low handicap and professional players practice their posture and stance in front of a mirror nearly everyday.  Spend just a minute or two practicing your 30 degree bend at the hips with the knees fairly straight.

Keep vigilant against your old tendencies, whether that is to reach too far or not allow the buttocks to protrude enough behind you to counterbalance the weight of the head.
