Lesson 40 – The Lead: Driver

Unlike the other clubs in the bag, we would ideally like to hit upwards on the driver.  It will be therefore played ahead of the left instep, the position I call the ZERO LINE...for zero angle of attack.

Therefore we don't want the shaft leaning forward at address or impact.  On a driver we want the shaft even or maybe leaning backwards at impact, signifying that the head of the club has passed the handle and is on its upwards journey.

The best analogy is from baseball, where the bat head gets out in front.
