It is amazing to me how few teaching pros or playing pros understand lead....or how much the shaft should be leaning forward.
If you have zero lead on each club at address, you will have to change your swing for every club to find the correct lead at impact. It is simpler and more efficient to set the club up with the correct lead at address, and then just return to this position at impact.
We need the right lead for many reasons: to control distance and trajectory, and to get the leading edge to carve through the turf . . .
