The correct action of the left foot (right handed golfer) during the swing can eliminate several possible errors and reduce risk of injury to different joints down the line.
If the lead ankle gets rolled to the outside too much (a la Jordan Spieth) we risk stretching the ligaments on the outside of the ankle that support the stability of the joint. It is ok if there is a very slight roll onto the outside (Nicklaus) as all good ball strikers finish up with their weight on the outside of the lead heel.
